River Home Consignment is a family run, high-end furniture resale shop. It is located next to the Old River Shopping Area and behind Key Bank, on Detroit Rd in downtown Rocky River. The shops location is marked with several swinging signs along the road and shopping center. Word of mouth is this places best advertisement, considering their location is tucked out of the public eye.

A “consignment shop” is a furniture store that sells other people’s goods and splits the profit of items sold. The word consignment is a commercial term that refers to the giving over of objects. At RHC profits are split fifty fifty and furniture will even be picked up from a consigners home to be placed in the shop at no charge.

At RHC you can find couches, sectionals, dining room tables, chair sets, mirrors and more for bargain prices. The shop only takes on high-end pieces that are like new. At RHC, many furniture pieces are on consignment and many more are brand new. “The best way to grab high-end looks for your home or business is to buy name brand furniture and accessories on consignment.” Says Lizanne Kilbane, owner of the ever-changing River Home Consignment.

When not tending to the needs of the clients who shop at River Home Consignment, Lizanne Kilbane also works as a dedicated nurse at the Cleveland Clinic. “If you miss a day, you miss a lot” is Lizanne’s motto. The moment something moves out of her shop she has her four boys and husband immediately move new merchandise in and completely rearranges the shops interior.

The shop specializes in carrying quality name brands like Restoration Hardware and Arhaus furniture. It is open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Outdoor Ice Skating In Downtown Cleveland

Cleveland has met this winter season with style. The Cleveland Foundation Ice Rink opened at Public Square on Nov. 18 and will continue operation until Feb. 28. This innovative rink was sponsored and built through The Cleveland Foundation, the rink is one of Cleveland’s coolest new destinations.

The Cleveland Foundation Ice Rink’s grand opening was designed to overlap with the arrival of Winterfest in Public Square. The Cleveland Foundation is proud to bolster Public Square as a vivacious gathering place in the heart of Cleveland. The invigorated area will remain a hospitable and charming attraction for both Clevelanders and visitors alike.

Skaters can enter the rink for just $10, this price includes skate rentals. Those who bring their own skate can enter the rink for $7. All skater may stay as long as they please with no extra charge. Skates are available to rent between the sizes of children’s 9 and adult 13.

Tickets are available in the rental booth found near the Soldiers and Sailors Monument next to the rink. Booth operator, Tom Horan, says “The rink is pretty unique. Lots of young families and couples visit it the most. Nobody stays over an hour though because it’s been so cold out lately.” The east side of Cleveland has opened a similar rink exclusively for children and parents at University Circle’s Wade Oval.
